  • Patricia McCann

    Patricia McCann

Patricia McCann grew up in the west of Ireland and has been cycling since the early 1980’s both as a means of transport but also as a cycle tourer. She has completed mostly short cycles of a few weeks in Italy, Iceland, Montenegro, Denmark, Scotland, and Georgia. Patricia refer to her trips as “the married woman with children world cycle tour.” It will take her the rest of her life, but what an adventure!

Patricia’s most wonderful trip was in 2017 when she toured the Karakorum Highway, Pakistan as a solo female. The mountains are majestic, beautiful, and breath-taking where peaks reach up to the sky. But the people of this country are inspirational in their friendliness and hospitality towards tourists like her.

Life is a series of unforgettable moments that gladden the heart and make you feel truly alive. This trip was one such memory. Cycle touring bestows these enduring memories in bucket-loads on the cyclist. And as for a solo cycle tourist: well, these moments flood in because they have your undivided attention.

“I see my path, but I don’t know where it leads. Not knowing where I’m going is what inspires me to travel it.” Rosalia de Castro 1837-1885
