The best thing about the Cycle Touring Festival is the chance to spend time with like-minded people.

The worst thing is that it only happens once a year.

Last September, we hosted a gathering to help address this problem. Forty of us met at Lancaster and cycled over to Clitheroe, where we camped for the night before cycling back. The idea was to experience and celebrate the independence and pure joy of cycle touring.

We want to recreate this, but we need your help. You are the experts on your local area, so could you showcase it as a cycle touring destination?

The aim is to have a series of weekend gatherings around the country. All you would need to do is set a start point, end point, and place to stay overnight.

You don’t need to lead the ride, or even plan a route (unless you want to suggest a particularly scenic option). People would book their own accommodation and be responsible for their own food and drink. Cycle touring is all about exploring, so we want to keep the organisation as light-touch as possible.

Want to plan a regional gathering?

If you’re interested, complete this form with the details. We’ll then publicise the gathering on the Cycle Touring Festival website, via our newsletter and on our social media channels.

Hope to see you on a ride near you before too long.

UPDATE: we have our first ride planned! See the new Regional rides page for details.
