CTF2015 - group outside (Custom) (2)
What a weekend. The sun shone, the company was excellent, the speakers were top quality and there were plenty of nice bikes to admire.

We had 250 people at this year’s Cycle Touring Festival, who all gathered together to discuss bikes, travel and adventure over the course of a weekend.

The talks covered a staggering range of topics, from cycling with children, flying with bikes and frame building, to foraging, philosophy, photography and politics. As always, one of the highlights was the open mike session on the Saturday evening, when people were invited to speak for three minutes about their own cycle touring experiences. It’s amazing how much can be conveyed in just three minutes, and this format is perfect for those, like me, with short attention spans. The hands down winner was Pete, who we suspect has a part time career as a stand-up comedian, but the epic Beowulf-style poem from Thomas Tyrrell about cycling in the Welsh rain came a close second.

Thanks to all those who came along to the festival, and to all the volunteers and speakers who gave their time to make the weekend such a success.

See you next year…
